NEXT Steps along the Trail :
Landscaping planned, butterfly garden

The Mirant Corporation is working with the National Park Service to landscape the mural site this spring. A NPS-approved contractor will be removing kudzu and planting Virginia-native plants and trees this spring and fall. This section of the Mount Vernon Trail will also feature a butterfly garden at the north end of the mural site.

ONGOING:
Mural Paintings Exhibited at Ferry Farm

Two of the large scale models originally completed for the GW mural are on display at Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington through 2008. One painting features a Trompe L'oeil study of quarters and vintage postage stamps, the second one was a large 3' x 8' maquette for the Ferry Farm scene. We urge you to stop and see this interesting historical site just across the river from historic Fredericksburg, Virginia.
